I mentioned in my prior blog about the urgent need for shoes for those in Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake less than three weeks ago. Soles4Souls is on the front line of making sure this happens . . . “changing the world one pair at a time” (http://www.soles4souls.org/about/).

If you live in the Portland, Oregon area (like I do) you should know that there are at least 7 locations where you can donate new and slightly used shoes (no sandals or high-heels, please!) for the relief effort in Haiti.

Please help the people of Haiti – with so many agencies available to help respond in the aftermath of a massive earthquake that struck near the capital of Port-au-Prince, each one of us can do our part, either by sending a financial donation, volunteering at a local aid agency, or sending much-needed shoes and clothing.

Here’s how you can put those unworn shoes in your closet to work for a good cause:

Soles4Souls has a simple mission: To impact as many lives as possible with the gift of shoes.   According to Soles4Souls’ latest newslink on their website (http://www.soles4souls.org/news/2010/01-15/shoe-charity-now-able-to-commit-250000-pairs-to-haiti), a pair of new shoes is absolutely necessary in order for the Haitian survivors to be effective in rescue and rebuilding efforts amidst broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage.
